The sides are sewn shut for better protection from cold and wind. The poncho stays in place well and is cut roomy, so children can move freely in it.
It is made of bamboo terry (90% bamboo, 10% PE), an OEKO-TEX certified fabric. It absorbs moisture very well, feels soft and suits sensitive skin. It is a little thinner than cotton terry, drapes nicely and has antibacterial properties.
